Revisiting Vectorpark

It’s been a long time since I visited Vectorpark, but thanks to an email from Javier Sladena, I recently spent some quality time on that cleverly addictive site again.

Now before you go posting a “what does this have to do with motion graphics” comment (I know some of you are itching to do exactly that), take a deep breath and fully explore the site first. Take special note of the way Vectorpark uses simple shapes to create animations and environments that are, for some inexplicable reason, highly addictive. The Thomas series in particular is a beautiful little set of character-driven creations.

If you try really hard (I believe in you!), I think you can see how inspiring Vectorpark can be. Boiling things down to the basics is so much harder than throwing in everything but the kitchen sink. Stretch that mind! You can do it!
