Opening remarks

9:15 a.m.
Future Screens

Xbox, iPod, cell phone, interactive television –– what’s next? The lines between broadcast and interactive design are blurring. Dale Herigstad, chief creative officer of Schematic, looks forward for a glimpse into the future of broadcast and motion design.

10:00 a.m.
Psyop’s World

Marie Hyon and Marco Spier are co-founders and creative directors of Psyop. Known for the quality of their concepts as well as their animation they have created amazing animation for both broadcast networks and commercials. They offer insight into the inner workings of Psyop and the concept behind their brand.

11:00 Break

11:15 a.m
Remastering the Nano

Creative Director Brien Holman and Designer/Animator Jayson Whitmore of Exopolis will take you behind the scenes of the making of the breakthrough “Apple Nanoâ€? spot. They will illustrate the process from concept to final composite and share the trials and tribulations of bringing all aspects of the project together in the final spot.

Communication

How can one cut through mass media with a constructive message? To succeed and make an impact, a communication strategy must allow an individual to absorb a message in an intelligent way. Jakob Trollbäck, president and creative director of Trollbäck + Company, speaks on communicating in an image- and marketing-saturated society.

2:30 p.m.
Network Identity – The Big Idea

A Network Identity is more than a flying logo. It needs a concept – a big idea. Five leaders in the field of broadcast design share with us their work and explain what the big idea was and how they came up with it. Panelists include Ellerey Gave from Capacity,Vasil Hnatiuk from Roger , Patrick McDonough from PMCD Design, Limore Shur from EyeballNYC, and Orion Tait from Buck.

Design Infused Storytelling

Jose Gomez and Andre Stringer, founders and creative directors of Shilo, discuss their perspective on work and process: how they use design, live action, animation and a plethora of other tools to creatively explore and reinforce emotional narrative experiences.

5 p.m.
Special Screening: Matthew Barney: No Restraint

How does artist Matthew Barney use 45,000 pounds of petroleum jelly, a factory whaling vessel, and traditional Japanese rituals to create his latest art project? The documentary Matthew Barney: No Restraint journeys to Japan with Barney and his collaborator Bjork, as the visual artist creates his latest endeavor DRAWING RESTRAINT 9.

Bubblyfish lays down her groovy “lo-fiâ€? 8-bit Game Boy tunes accompanied by VJ and SCAD professor Alessandro Imperato to warm up the Award Show stage.
The Award Show will be a dazzling display of the best and most innovative broadcast design, motion graphics and animation of the year. The award show will end with the presentation of the Cream O’ the Crop awards to the most creative companies and individuals of 2006.
