Trollback + Co: Hippies

I love that headline. If you know anything about Trollbäck + Co’s modernist portfolio, you know they are anything but hippies. That’s why creating this :30 promo for the History Channel’s Hippies show (aired July 9th) must have been a voyage into new territory for them.

The spot is full of beautiful compositions unified by fluid movement and a lush palette. I do think, however, that Cooper Black is a bit predictable for this subject matter. And the tank rendering is a bit too “3D” for the rest of the spot, isn’t it? I would have liked to have seen more of a color-corrected, stylized rendering, something that suggested newsprint or television coverage from the 60s maybe. Regardless of my minor quibblings, I’m excited to see Trollbäck letting its hair down a bit.
