Stephane Berla for Dionysos

Here’s a new music video/animated short and interview from renowned director, Stéphane Berla. Drawing from influences ranging from Roald Dahl and Tim Burton to Youri Norstein and the Quay brothers, Berla creates a dark and romantic world that has a beautiful real world, stop-motion aesthetic, but was created digitally.

I’ll let the sweeping interview do the rest of the talking, but I gotta mention that my favorite part about this piece is that even though the character design and environments are excellent, what really pushes the piece to the next level is the fact that those elements weren’t used as a crutch. The cinematography and editing styles equally matched the beautiful aesthetic, and really drove the video home.

Thanks to Igor
