David O’Reilly: Octocat Adventure 5

During last weekend’s PictoplasmaNYC event, David O’Reilly revealed that he is, in fact, the force behind the Octocat Adventures created by Randy Peters, a fictional 14 year-old living in Chicago. As a show of appreciation to his devoted fans, David/Randy revealed the fifth and final episode in the series during his Pictoplasma talk and is now sharing it on YouTube.

The final adventure begins in the same amateurish style as the other four, but then it departs and quickly becomes something bordering on transcendent. I’ve posted David O’Reilly’s work here before, and this project is no less beguiling and bewitching than his others. I adore his entire approach to animation.

Thanks to Noah and Karen for the tips on this!
