Genndy Tartakovsky’s POPEYE Animation Test

Genndy Tartakovsky, creator of Dexter’s Laboratory and director of Hotel Transylvania, has been hard at work with Sony Pictures Animation in bringing Popeye, the beloved spinach-eating sailor man, back to the big-screen. Inspired by the Fleischer shorts for Paramount in the 1930s, Tartakovsky has released an official animation test showcasing the stylistic approach of the upcoming film. Not since Robert Altman’s strange live-action spin on Popeye has the character gotten much love from Hollywood.
