Onesize for Warde: “Home Is A Quest” (Director’s Cut)

Onesize branches into character work with this very nice – and very inventive – piece for Warde. Personal favorite: momma bird. There is a lot to like in this Director’s Cut, but one thing I particularly notice after a couple of watches: the well handled character animation is a real foundation in supporting the larger world concept.

Its nice, but it’s not inventive ! I got it, everything is made from fabric, landcapes, animals ( in anatomic detail), and so on. But thats it. Why doesn’t it go beyond. You build up this colorfull world and simply copy the normal one. Where is the clue, where is the imagination ?

jhon

Everything you see is somehow base on something…remember the matrix, well the effects weren’t new, you can see them somewhere else. But, the way how you show it, is the most important.
And …shut up because!!

Mr K.

Hey jhon, everything is a copy of something, that’s not the point. But if you build a complete world from e.g. paper, gears, ink or in this case fabric, it is not inventive to copy the „real“ world in detail. The physic of each world is indivual, e.g. paper can tear, gears build a machine, ink flowes away and fabric can behave different. The clip is well down in all its beauty. But it’s boring if an animal resembles in ALL DETAILS real animals though it isn’t not build from feather / skin. What I want to explain is, that you build up a whole world from fabric and don’t use it in an imaginative way. Fabric can be woven, sewed together, dyed and so on. Capiche? :)

I have to agree with Mr K. This is obviously high caliber work technically… but conceptually i feel like we’ve seen this commercial a few million times now… paint chips, paper, etc… Not that every commercial is reinventing the wheel but… it’s a featured project… so it’s gonna get the fine tooth comb.

Big Al

Cut the dude some slack. It’s a commercial and it’s very nicely made. Considering the client is a fabric retailer they have made quite a leap conceptually in the first place with the premise of the Ad. Not all clients are comfortable with creative and imaginative work.

Absolutely right, this is a beautiful and cinematic spot, with a brave client! Though the client obviously realizes that they are in great hands with the talented folks at Onesize. The design and execution is SPOT on. Beautiful stuff, and 2 full posts on the main page, you guys are on a roll!! Keep it coming :)

Beautiful work. Expertly done. Can’t help but think of the Buck paint chips spot when I watch it, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t effective and excellent.

Exactly, ‘momma bird’ is really beautiful man!! Cheers,
