Augmented reality calendar brings year to life with animation

As a holiday gift, Royale crafted a limited run of beautifully designed letterpress calendars. Viewed through the the companion AR app (also created by Royale), each month springs to life, in some cases popping off the page. At the moment, it looks like the app ships with interactive vignettes for January through April, with scenes for the remaining months coming at a later date.

The app’s introductory animation is worth watching on its own:

(Pssst: If you weren’t one of the lucky recipients of the printed calendar, you can print one yourself.)

The AR Calendar sits nicely alongside Royale’s growing body of interactive work, which includes a selection of apps and web projects sporting the same design and animation sensibilities of Royale’s broadcast work.
