Producers, a moment, please!

Allison Maier and Barrett Brown, two students at the Ringling College of Art & Design, are conducting research aimed at improving the lives of producers.

Their goal: talk to as many studios as possible about the pains of current production management software. Their research starts with this simple survey.

Here’s a little background from Allison and Barrett:

The results from our research are being used in 3 ways:

First we want to know what software is being used for client/project management, budgeting, and time tracking.

We heard from several companies that it was incredibly difficult to research new software while still maintaining their packed schedules, so we want to do that research and share our findings. We plan to contact the commonly listed software companies and talk with them about some of the prevalent issues relayed to us.

Secondly, we want to help our department at Ringling produce the best students possible by creating a realistic studio environment in our classroom by making things like time tracking and project estimation second nature upon graduation.

We feel that Motion Design graduates who know how to have a great working relationship with the production department would be a huge plus!

Lastly, we want to see what traits are sought after in a new producer and what needs improvement. We are graduating in a few short months. after all!

Sharing the research

We are posting the results the first week of May, (2nd-6th) and we are creating a password protected website where we will display the results as infographics.

We want to make the information easily readable so producers or students can find what they want quickly. There will be a section based on our research of the software used and then a section focused on how students can become more successful in both creative and production paths.

If you’re a producer, head over here and take the survey. It’s painless!
