PES for Pivot

I can’t seem to get away from stop-motion. The latest from Anonymous Content’s PES for Pivot is full of his characteristic charm—a subtle playfulness that never upstages the message. My favorite moment is the collision of the two chairs to create a polka-dot love seat. According to the PR release for this one: “the effect was achieved by building full sized couches at different increments. Says PES, ‘It’s not everyday that you get to build an entire couch for 2 frames of animation.'”

Pes is awesome, I think what makes his stop motion work stand out is the excellent sound design that compliments the visuals – which is true of everything he’s done. I love as the chairs are going along that you can hear them scraping along the ground and the little highlights like when the ball turns into a globe. That really makes it for me.

the teddy bear turning a rug was brilliant, really well done overall and the virgins top it off with some background tunes, check em out here:

Really cant remember where but i’ve seen that exact idea of 2 smaller chairs bouncing into eachother and becoming a big one in some other ad.

That was excellent. I think a good touch was the car driving in the background. If most people did that or had a car happen to drive by, they’d have just shot another frame. Obviously they set it up, but it made the world more real.

Maybe they listened to our criticism of that Brand New School spot for Jeep?

This guy is a total stop-motion nut! I really enjoy his work even though it is something different than the stuff I usually admire.
Him building two full couches for two frames of animation with tons of digitals solutions to this is just hillarious. Gondryesque one might say :-)
Kudos to him.
