If all the OFFF festival last weekend did was help produce this post from Bran Dougherty-Johnson, then the event should be declared a stunning success. Please take a minute to read what Bran has to say. It’s time to take the ideals of First Things First and apply to them to motion graphics.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: motion graphics is the new lingua franca of the 21st century. Motion designers have an incredibly powerful skill set at their command. When coupled with today’s increasingly democratic distribution technologies, that adds up to enough power to change the minds of millions.
Do we, the possessors and curators of this power, want to be described as minions of ad agencies, purveyors of snake oil and candy-coated sneakers? Or do we want to be described as communicators who genuinely care about what they communicate?
In an attempt to have as coherent a discussion as possible, please direct your comments to Bran’s post.
