Did I miss something? The mograph was fantastic, but the actual content leaves me puzzled. The title implicates some connection to http://www.storyofstuff.com – but the actual context of this ad is the exact opposite or critized topic of the other “storyofstuff”.
Is it some new kind of cynic, sarcastic or ironic advertisement? Or is it a hoax or a spec?????

I agree, nice visuals, but absolutely terrible message. This ad was a serious slap in the face to the original story of stuff. It drags you along as if it were going to have a positive message at the end, then they give up like every other consumer whore, furthering the problems of the world. So a big sarcastic thank you, to the sleezy agency/creatives behind this “ad”.

I heard this “stuff” rant by some comedian, can’t place who it was.

For some reason they showed a rubber ducky when talking about credit cards, made me chuckle, and I generally like it overall.

I don’t see the implied connection to storyofstuff in the title at all. and I thought the punch line was cool. Made me want to go check out the website, so whether it’s real or not, I think it was effective and pretty :)

oh sorry, I see what you meant by the connection, it was the way justin introduced it on the quickies, but the actual title of the post doesn’t say that, and that’s what I was looking at.

I agree, shocking message. If this is where advertising is going, sad sad! Something like this should not be posted or supported here at all, we may as well post some old Nazi propaganda just because of it’s retro design values!

I have to disagree with you. Nowadays nobody have sense of humor, it’s very sad. I liked the film ’cause it’s funny, it guides you in a way that you think “they gonna ask me to donate my shit”, but suddenly you are slapped in the face by the “you have too much stuff because you bought it from us, sorry” message.

It’s a clever way to sell this product and very well executed with beautiful direction and motion by the studio. You should be less literal about advertising! Only people that don’t have brains to assume that every commercial should be boring and extremely serious to hit its target…grow up!

It`s not `made cleverly in any way, even worse, it totally fails to transport their message in a funny way.

This isnt about sense of humor, everybody has their own type of humor and this ad goes further from humor to be plain cynical. Very very sad attempt to be funny, causing Ipiranga to look like a self-centered pricks that cares about nothing else but to sell their “stuff”.

The ending is just blew my away! Anyone here complaining about cynicism in marketing clearly doesn’t understand the industry. At all.

I love this ad. It’s poking fun of the didactic motion graphic that teaches values. I love those. But I love this one too. I think it has a sense of humor and is very creative. Plus the fact that the technique is also great boost it up to a must watch level. Great work.
