Thanks for this report!

Unfortunately for many years our industry have been plagued by pitches. It’s unfortunate that so much quality work has been done and so many times several companies and individuals got nothing for great work, effort and money spent.

I would hope this trend at some point would disappear but with the emergence of so many little companies and fierce competition across the board I can only see pitches becoming more and more the norm. Too bad.

At least would be nice to see clients actually paying fair money for all this effort but I know this is just wishful thinking of my part.

It definitely won’t disappear if everyone keeps on doing it. It’s time to either put some rules on the pitch process or to not participate.

Great job Bran!
Could there be a legal way for the studios to protect themselves by drafting some guidelines? such as accepting only triple bid, writing some penalty fees to discourage advertising companies going nuts? Maybe the big shops could lead and offer advice to the smaller shops, writing some guidelines, build some new ethical grounds ? Remember… they were small too in the beginning…

I think that’s a great idea, Rafael. Why not?!

One thing I learned over the years in this industry is that companies and individuals never get together to foster guidelines and create rules to follow. It’s the me first approach.
Sorry to say but I fell this is only going to get worst. Small companies will try to pitch for free to have a shot and big ones will just put the money and accept the loss if happens.
That’s just the way it is. Clients will just take advantage of it.
I want to be positive but trying to be realistic.
