Japanese director/animator Masanobu Hiraoka’s latest short film, titled simply “My New Animation,” is a hypnotic study of division and collision.
Created in a style consistent with his previous works, the short’s painstakingly animated figures endlessly morph, ushering viewers through abstract vignettes that span nearly five mesmerizing minutes of run time.
Hiraoka is something of a Vimeo Staff Pick darling, with three other films in their gilded collection: “Uneasiness and triangle” (2011), “ONE AND THREE FOUR” (2014) and “Land” (2014).
Hiraoka is represented by studio Je Regarde.
