Matt Lavoy

lavoy2.jpg

While his work focuses more on compositing, particle generation and vfx supervision than most of the folks we talk about here on Motionographer, LA-based Matt Lavoy’s reel is a solid bit of viewing. The sustained level of polish in his work stands up to frame-by-frame scrutiny, and the fluidity of his transitions is astounding.

I’d also love to see more cut lists like the one Matt has on his site. It’s a helpful, non-intrusive way to make sure we all know what we’re looking at.

PS — In case it wasn’t clear from Matt’s site, the still above is from the Superfad Pioneer spot we featured here a while back. Matt was one of about 20 people on the team.

Justin, thanks for posting this. The PS3 spot is one of my favorites and Matt’s work is BRILLIANT. It was great seeing everything he has been a part of. Thanks for highlighting probably an unsung hero in his field.

Matt is a god! He is a rockstar/mad scientist/model. He is a great guy to work with and can pretty much figure anything out. Congrats man.

Matt is one of the most talented and experimental minds out there. He’s boat shoe emotional constituency. Pastel yellow Members Only jacket.

Matt Lavoy wrote me a plug-in that picks out what I wear each day. True genius.

…and don’t forget that expression he did that matches your hairstyle to the music.

Nice, that’s superhero stuff right there.

@dadallas: The song is a remix of Justice – Phantom Pt. II, a very cool song :)

Matt is the SH_T!! Thanks for the tightness.

fabis

No. There is no remixes, only three original tracks from the album “Justice – Cross”.

My favorite thing about this is that he listed exactly what role he played in each of the clips. Very classy – love to see that sort of thing rather than just saying “Oh, I did this Honda commercial”.

Nicely executed but the concept bears an uncanny resemblance to a website done for Electronic Arts which won an FWA. In it silhouettes of game elements explode out from the black EA logo.
