“WoodSwimmer,” a music video made entirely of tree cross-sections

From the creator:

A music video made entirely from wood for a song by http://bedtimes.co/music/, WoodSwimmer is based on a concept I developed while designing a new stop-motion universe where wood is the primary element. The sequences are cross-sectional photographic scans of pieces of hardwood, burls and branches. It is a straightforward technique but one which is brutally tedious to complete.

After reading more about it..IM still confused…How were they animated? BY taking photos of wood..but then what?

and then they shaved a bit more off and then took a photo of that. and they repeated that so many times with so many photos that it blends into this trippy effect when animated all in order!

That was mesmerizing. Amazing stuff and so tedious to produce too.
